How to Play Word Match
Swap two neighbouring tiles and line up the target word before your moves run out.
1Make a swap
- Look at the target word above the board.
- Tap one letter tile.
- Tap a tile directly above, below, left or right to swap them.
- If the swap does not make the target word, the tiles return to their places.
2Build the word
The target can run horizontally or vertically. It also counts backwards, so WORD and DROW both complete the match.
Some levels ask you to collect the word more than once. Each successful match refreshes the board with another available move.
Strategy tips
- Find the longest correct fragment. Look for two or three target letters already together.
- Check both directions. A backwards match may be closer than the forward spelling.
- Look beside the gap. The missing letter must be on a neighbouring tile to complete the word in one swap.
- Protect your moves. Test the full row or column mentally before committing.
